Hi guys,

I know there are some of you who are using the two together. Has anyone had any issues with the Mini Amp Gizmo switcing the solo boost and fx loop in and out?

I have these questions posted on the RJM Music forum and the site admin is in the process of helping but I wanted to see if any of you have had these issues.

No issues. The mini amp gizmo is perfect. I'm even using the solo boost jack on the back with a latching switch while using the amp gizmo with no problems.

When my Mini Amp Gizmo is connected to the Mark V, the Solo boost is contantly engaged and for some reason, cannot be turned off.

Mini Gizmo = perfect! I bought the MkV cable and their 4-connector cable (stereo connector -> up to 8 functions depending on amp) as well so I can use it for small combo or any other amps with various 1/4" channel control.

It must be a bad cable or defective unit. If you unconnect the cable from the Mini-Gismo does the light 6? turn off.

I am not in front of it right now, but I will definetly try that once I am and let you know.

I tried this. All lights that I have on before I pull the cable, including Light 6, stay on even after I pull the cable.

FWIW, i use my mark v with the RG-16 and it works perfectly. i have noticed some lag when changing presets from the midi controller, tho. :?

I would call RJM for assistance. They are supposed to be great.

I am currently in the forum chatting with someone. Turn around time for responses are kind of slow tho. If I don't find a solution today, I think I will give them a call.

If all else fails I will use the switching relay on the G-Major 2 for switching of the Solo feature. Sucks tho, as this unit should take care of all of this.

As I mentioned before: with the Mini Amp Gizmo connected, the Solo feature appears to be engaged (If switch 6 is on or not) because the solo volume knob is active. Despite this, do you think that the G-Major 2 would take control of this via the external switching jack?

It's unfortunate. I used to control the solo with a latch switch BOSS FSU 5 I think. Worked fine so the G-major2 would do the same thing. It may not be advisable to used it at the same time as the Mini-Gizmo (you use the special MkV cable I assume). Is everything working properly with the MkV footswitch?

I use a GT-10. The MIDI program change work to change all 8 settings on the MinGizmo and I was able to program the GT-10 to send CC# to activate/deactivate the solo function through the MiniAmpGizmo when I hit a specific CTL pedal if I don't want to change the whole patch.

Murphie's law

Yes I am using the custom Mark V cable. When I use the Mark V footswitch it all switches like a champ.

Having no ability to switch the Solo feature in and out pretty much renders the Mini Amp gizmo that I have, useless. I use it all the time live. So I hope that it is something that I have configured wrong. Seeing that I bought it from a Boogie Board Forum memeber that has a Mark V as well, you would think he would of had this problem before selling it to me. Who knows! Fingers crossed that the guys at RJM can help me sort this out.

guys, sorry to steal this thread but, have any of you noticed slight delays while changing channels on the mK5 using the basic footswitch? I can definitely tell it takes the amp a little while to switch over as if it went to a complete mute cutting of the sound for a half of a second until it switch to the next channel.. I haven't noticed this when using my old mk4 or my previous amps.. so i am just curious..

I haven't noticed this. When I use the MKV FS it all swtiches fine, with no delays.

It all switches fine with the Mini Amp Gizmo too except that darn Solo feature.

For any of you who is interested:

I am pateintly waiting for RJM site admin to get back to me, but it looks as though it might be a cable issue at this point. Still not a 100% tho.

So support at RJM and I have determined that the relays in the MAG need to be replaced. Without actually seeing it they have diagnosed it as the Mark V actually melting the switching relay. They said that they have seen this happen with DSLs but not Mesa Amps. Apparently the boards used in MAGs with serials below 100300 are not as robust as the boards used in MAGs with serials above 100300.

Anyhow they are sending me a new board to install. I could have sent the my MAG to have them install it but I opted to do it myself. They assure me that it's very easy to install. The ****** part of all this is that I bought this unit as well as the custom made Mak V cable second-hand from a guy on this forum and now I have to fork out an extra $90 for this board.

It's hard to say if this was already an issue before it was sold to me but I will give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Lesson learned for me!

There's my rant for the day. I hope this helps someone.
