Ok. Got a decent mic...Ive been doing my mic about 3 foot from the amp in the front...where should it be or what? It sounds good, but loses some low end. Should I cover anything or what?

You didn't mention what kind of mic, what kind of amp, what kind of cab, or what kind of tone you're going for.

If it's a dynamic mic, you'll want to be right up to the cab, a few inches away, as these mics use a proximity effect to give a full sound. If it's a condenser, you'll need to be further away (to avoid damaging it from SPL), but you'll to make sure your room is good for recording.

I stick with dynamic mics (SM-57 or i5, though I understand the MD-421 & E609 also sound good) up close to Rectifier cabs. Be prepared to spend a long time tweaking and moving the mic around. Do a search and you should find a bunch of threads discussing this. :)

Yea, thats my problem with recording, it gets alittle thin when I record, maybe Im doing something wrong. I have a mark IV, I keep the mic about 2 ft. away, and Im not sure how the volume should be or what. I have the mic angled offcenter from the cone, but when I record, its alittle thin and fuzzy. Using dynamicx mic.
