Hi, I made an attempt to record my Line6 Spider with a cheap pc mic today... sorry if I mentioned "Line6", I know it is like mentioning the devil here! I just wanted to post the link if someone's curious. The song is Master Of Puppets, I used an old cheap Cimar guitar tuned two whole steps down.

I don't know if it is right to post non-Mesa clips in this section (however it sems to me it happened more than once) or if they would better be in OT, so I apologize if it isn't the right place...

To be honest...if you said you recorded it with a Mark III through a mesa 4x12 I would of believed it and told you it sounded good. But since it was recorded with a Line 6 I must say that it is pure crap and not worthy of wasting our bandwidth :D

Good work though...played well!

Too much bass. Somewhat scooped to much. But not bad.

Also somewhat fuzzy distortion, but it could be the mic too.

On a scale from 1 to 10:

5,5

For a cheap amp a really good score!

I always thought that if you talk about the instrument's (guitar+amp) timbre, there's nothing wrong if someone likes Line6 and similar stuff more. The thing you can objectively say is that you'll never reach the dynamics and the organic tone of an all-valve amp, that's for sure. So, for higain rhythm tones is very difficult even to an expert to recognize a tube amp from a solidstate/digital amp if they're both recorded extremely well (I think).

thanks, but I must admit that tempo is slower than the original... two years ago I was able to play it in real tempo but now I should do some training to play those fast all-down-stroke palm mutings!

You're right, I did some post equalization but I couldn't do miracles to improve the bassy tone. Surely the mic is the main cause... that amp actually doesn't sound too bad at very low volumes (one or two really usuable tones though). Thanks for the comment!

cool clip dude, those line6s are pretty good sounding, too bad they don't sound like that when you crank them,
thanks Nick, what you say is true, I found them to be the worst sounding amps at high volumes but for home practice they're alright. One of my friend's got a Vetta II combo, I'm curious to hear it in action this saturday, many say vettas are all another thing compared to the cheap model I've got..

Altho it is somewhat too bassy and too scooped it's got some very appealing grind in the sound! Not bad at all!

Its ok, but i rather much prefer your other clips, especially "Ascesa" (means lighted??). better tone and rec. 8)

btw, your surname is really Scarpa??? cause it's the name of a VERY rich family here in Brazil, if you're related with'em you can be playing gtr all day long and not worry about the future!!

Yes it is my surname, but I'm definitely not rich! Think that the translation of SCARPA is SHOE... it isn't exactly what you'd call a noble surname! However I'm happy with it... no need for additional nicknames!

No, ASCESA in italian means RISE, ASCENSION. The word for "lighted" is "illuminato" or "acceso" ("accesa" if female, here is your doubt I think!).
