Metallica - Broken Beat & Scarred tone

Saw Metallica last month. The kind of show to make me rededicate myself to playing kick ass rock and roll. Any ideas on that particular tone? I have had my MKV for a little over a month after playing mainly Marshall. Tried some of the settings posted here with great results. This amp is so fun to explore sounds with it is almost a distraction. So far MK1 with bass lowered, lower gain, volume up seems close. Guitar - JP6, cab - oversized 2 x 12 closed back, beer - Sam Adams.

I read an interview with James and he talked about the tone on the new album. They used the same eq and equipment as their older stuff but used a lot less gain. Try putting the eq in a sort of m shape with the 750 close to the bottom, the 240 and 2200 close to the top and the end two sliders slightly lower. MkIIC+ mode with gain at about half.
