Can the Mesa Boogie Mark IV do metal convincingly? After playing around I would say that it definitely has major potential for heavier types of music.

I recorded this really quick tonight. I plugged in my Schecter and hit record over the backing track. I'm not sure if I mixed the levels right but I will let you be the judge.

Does it sound alright? I like the tone I dialed in for metal types of music. I know the original was recorded with a Triple Rectifier but the Mark IV more than hold its own.

I think it sounds good! I would bring the guitars out a bit in the mix. Especially the rhythm guitars. The cymbals are a little overbearing. I like the end the best when it is just the guitar chunking away... :)

I agree, the backing sucks. Thanks for listening.

That was a VHT? Nice.

I definately think the Mark IV would get you there. I know ones in my future...just have the let the wife recover from the DR and 4x12 I just bought!

Spectacular. You got me to break my wah pedal back out  and play along with the whole CD! Got to love it.

Oh, and by the way if you don't mind my asking, what were your settings on this? Mine sound similar but lack that little bit of a thud.

I forgot to change my signature. It is actually my Mark IV short head and Bogner 2x12.

Thanks! Here are my settings:

Lead Gain- 7 pulled
Treble- 6.5
Bass- 2
Mid- 3
Lead Drive- 7.5 pulled
Presence- 3
Master- 3
Output Level- 3
Graphic EQ:
80hz- 1/4 inch above the middle line
240hz- sitting just above the middle line
720hz- 1/4 inch below the middle line
2200hz- sitting just above the middle line
6600hz- sitting just above the middle line

My Rocktron Xpression supplied the delay for the lead. I mixed a Shure 57 and Sennheiser e609 over my Bogner Oversized 2x12 into an M-Audio Mobile PRE USB and recorded with N-Track 5 Studio. No post EQ whatsoever. Obviously recorded it with my EBMM Petrucci with the original stock pickups.
