Can someone explain the mystery behind the Treble knob on Mesas? My particular amp is a roadster. How exactly does the treble knob determine how much the other EQ knobs factor into the end tone?

In mine, it feels like the higher the presence and/or treble controls are the less affect turning up the bass and mid controls have. Same with the gain, the higher the gain the less overall control there seems to be over the tone controls.

+1

The treble is the second most influential preamp control, next in line after the gain, and is where the bass and mids get their signal. The higher you set the gain and treble, the less effect the rest of the EQ will have.

All this is explained in the Roadster (RK, Single, Dual, Triple) Manual.

I think the presence is more of an output section tweak, adding extreme high end after the tone stack.

Think of the treble as the first gate in the flood...... The higher the treble, the more signal that's available to the rest of the EQ section. I always ran mine around 12:00-1:00 and my gain no higher than 3:00 (on vintage orange).
