HI!

Happy to be here because i`m a lucky owner of a tiny little
5:25 10". It fits perfectly to my 1965 Melody maker.
I just asked myself what the sound difference is between the
original Black shadow and the Jensen vintage alnico, also presented
in the mesa Web Shop. Or does anyone recommend another 10" speaker?

Please don't take this as being rude, because that is totally not my intention! This topic has been beaten to death around here, though, and a quick search of this forum will give the info you seek.

okay, thanks and sorry
i just haven´t found any comment to the Jensens Yet
I will take an even closer look on what´s already written.

Hi

Firstly, I tried a Weber Alnico 10 inch 30 watt (his take on the p10q) in a 5:25 ... did not like it.

Secondly, placed the Weber in a Superchamp XD and there was the same quality of sound that I did not like in the firstly. So my comments are rather inconclusive concerning the efficacy of the Jensen : (

Eventually sold the 5:25 and got a 5:50 ... love the sound of the 5:50 but miss the small footprint of the 5:25

good luck with the sound
cb

The only place I know the Jensen 10 is used is in the Lonestar 4x10. While I bet they sound really good, they are not all that efficient. That would not matter in a 100watt Lonestar, but the 5:25 may suffer for clean headroom.

all a matter of taste......got a Weber alnico 10 in mine(Blue Pup), and I love it.

The lower efficiency will be just right for most of my gigs
( i mostly play in a worship band with cajon in very small venues)
For that even the 5 Watt setting is far too loud.
I just ordered a Jensen p12R hope it comes soon...
I will give a feedback when i´m ready to compare

Will be very interested hear your review. I just played the Lonestar 4x10 and am very impressed, but its hard to know what was the amp and what was the speakers in terms of the tone. Should have played the 12" Lonstar too.

If volume isn't a problem for you then all the better. I had seriously considered getting a 2x10 cab with Jensens for my express, but our drummer gets really excited. The 5:25 tone does not seem to get better as the volume goes up for me, except in the 5 watt mode.

Finally!

a jensen P10R is placed in my express 5:25.
Break in is not finished yet, i played about 5 hours now,
but i like it already:
The sound has got a little more brillance, slightly scooped low mids
and a full, warm bass. (a bit more Fender- style)
The treble is a bit more agressive on distortion sounds, but it gets better
hour by hour.(i am impressed about the effect of breaking in  )
The greatest benefit is the very low beaming of this speaker, it sounds almost
the same in every direction. I like that!!
GOOD CHOICE!!

Glad you like it. There is just something special about Alnico magnet speakers. I am definately going to get some too, probably Jensen P10R.

I have now tested the Lonestar 4x10 side by side with the 2x12 and without going into the details here, the 2x12 was definately missing that Alnico magic.
