mesa rectrifier solo 50 advice

hey there, i own a dual rectrifier and am thinking bout buying a second amp. i like the rectrifier sound so was thinking bout maybe buying a solo 50 rectrifier as a backup.i want somthing that i can practice with but also be powerfull enough to use live if needed. i was wondering would the 50 watt head sound good at lower volumes using a hot plate so i could practice with it at home at a reasonable level?

I have a Rectoverb combo and practise every morning while others are sleeping. The amp has a master volume so no need to get a hot plate.
