Hello,

last week i bought a mark4, and so far I am really lovin this amp. there are some "problems'' though.

1: the amp has too much mids and bass. on all 3 channels, mids are at 0, and on R1/2, bass is on 0 too, and on lead bass is on 5 or something like that. its too middy. I thought that changing tubes would help a lot in changing the sound. my 'signature' sound always has been the marshall jcm 800; very course at the high and mid frequencies, and pumping at the low end. in other words: real el34 material. the question is: which brand should I use? i dont think that JJ's will cut it, because they are by themselves already very middy and bassy. i want tubes which have a lot of highs. I still have 2 other 6l6 tubes in the mesa....

2: Am I correct in believing that with a standard mk4, i dont need to bias, when i change the 2 outer 6l6 for 2 el34's?

3: what preamp tubes would you recommend?

thank you in advance.
