Mesa Mark III Black Stripe Questions

So I just bought a Mesa Boogie Mark III black stripe off the Bay for 835 shipped. I like the tones I am getting so far. I am using a boss GE7 EQ for the lead channel to get the best metal sound. I have an MXR Super Badass (which also has its own EQ) I use on the clean channel for some dirty rhythm tones. Don't know if I plan on using the R2 channel because I heard this amp works best as a 2 channel amp. Also for cleans I prefer to turn off the GE7 and the amps EQ. I see a few aftermarket places that sell footswitches for the Mark III. Anyone have experience with these? I see there are two footswitches for this amp that seem hard to find. Should I go with an aftermarket switch or the original? I'd rather have something compact in one where I can control each channel and the amps EQ. Definitely hard to dial in so far. Man this thing is loud and ballsy! Going to attach some pics on the settings. Again want to turn off the amps EQ for clean. Any further recommendations on dialing in?

But isn't there an aftermarket switch that allows you to switch between all three channels and turn off the EQ?

I'm sure there is, you can search the interweb, I've never needed to switch anything that much on my Mark III Coli.

Anyone have any favorite settings? I have a good lead tone but i think the clean can be slightly improved

I just recently picked up the 4 button switch Doctor footswitch.... I love it! Prior to that I was using the stock foot switches for the channel switching, but didn't have a footswitch for the EQ and Reverb. This all in one pedal is great!

I'm a little late to the party here, but I too was in search of a 4 button switch for a mark iii earlier this year. I ended up making one in a Hammond box for about $30 total and I got more switches/jacks left over for future (possible) projects. literally one of the easiest diy jobs I've ever done. I just wired each of the 4 switches to 4 mono jacks, and used a try to 2x1/4" ts to accommodate for the stereo cable needed to switch the reverb/eq. I'm making this sound more complicated than it really is though.

I guess because they are both made for mesa amps? This would be perfect because i can turn off the eq and switch between two channels and mess with the reverb (which is very weak on this amp I might add). I've been loving this amp more and more every day i play it. Definitely going to keep this one for a long time.

First off, Everyone ears are after something different so this is just a starting point for you. The master volume level makes this setting work well with either a Les Paul/Firebird/Strat very well for me.

If you play low on the master this will feel a bit fuzzy but if you can put the master around 2ish (Or More) it really lets this setting open up ! The clarity on Boogies really kicks in when the master volume opens up. IF you are in a bedroom trying to get the clear but great sustain on a Mark III, I find when I turn it up to stage volume it gets the tone I'm after. Once I get it dialed in I don't change any settings when I am at home learning tunes or practicing.

Its my fave for a balance between clean and lead tones. I like less top end than some folks so flavor to taste. :mrgreen:

Buy from Doc, His switches are great. I have bought several from him. He has several versions for your amp. I have 4 button for my MKIII. There are scammers out there with switches. Doc is 100%
