I went in yesterday to try some pedals out and ask when my Mark V was to ship.. and to my surprise they said "You wanna play one??" And I did!!! It was the combo version and it was raised up. First they gave me the full tour of the V explaining all the modes and such. And I played it for about 20 minutes.. I own a Mark IV.. and let me tell you, I could not have been happier with it! Every channel is amazing! I have never owned a I or IIc+ so I can't tell how accurate those are (although they sound *in' fantastic) but the Mark IV lead mode is SPOT ON! I could get the exact same sound which I use now. Awesome. The Fat and Tweed modes on rhythm 1 were incredible. Fat is soooo much better than the Mark IV clean channel, it's thick and clear. Exactly the clean sound I was looking for. I was surprised at how great tweed was! It really brought out my bluesy side! Rhythm 2 was the channel I spent the least time with. Edge and Crunch aren't TOO different to my ears, edge is supposed to be Marshally (pretty close I'd say) and Crunch is edge with some more drive. Mark I is definitely my favorite on Rhy 2. It's super dark, I lowered the bass all the way and raise the treble all the way and it sounded great. Now the lead channel.. was AWESOMEEEE!!!!!! I LOVE the Mark IIc+. If it really isn't that accurate as everyones assuming then the IIc+ really must be the holy grail of leads. Like I said before the Mark IV mode is spot on so of course I love it. And the Extreme channel is.. EXTREME. Not my type of tone but I'm sure we will see many youtube metal vids featuring it. I really think the possibilities are endless. I didn't get the hang of the knob EQ's and EQ presets so I just kept it on sliders the whole time. The mini toggles and wattage knobs really add a whole other world to the possibilities. The only things I can't really comment on are the effectiveness of the other EQs, the effects loop, and the reverb (I had reverb off the whole time, but Fat on Rhy 1 was sooo smooth I could have sworn there was reverb on it)

All in all I couldn't have been happier with it. I am even more anxiously waiting the day they call me and tell me my head is in the store and ready to be picked up. I think you are all in for some great surprises. Until then guys.. rock.

Your description of the clean channel is exactly what I'm hoping for with my Mark V. I'm especially looking forward to hearing what the Fat and Tweed modes have to offer. As for the lead channel, I'm not looking for ultra high gain metal tones, but it's a good feeling to know that I'll have them on tap in case I ever do want to use them, you never know.

Are they still saying late March for shipment? Or has that changed?

thanks for the updated on this amp.... i'll be on LA this weekend!!!! i'll try to get to the mesa hollywood store... thanks again :D

Damn... GAS is starting to set in. THANKS ALOT!! :D

Unfortunately, I'd have to sell pretty much all my gear to afford this amp. Not gonna happen!!

for some reason musicman, I think you will get your hand on one somehow. I have faith in you... plus you've gone through every amp they make since I joined this board.. hahahahahahah

I want one... but i've learned patience... damn priorities...

Yeah man I think everyone will be very happy with the cleans on it. :) They told me that Mesa is now saying (about) 4 weeks but when I told him I already put the down on mine he told me they might get their VERY first batch next week!!! If that is the case then I will be getting mine within 7 days.. I really hope so.

salvatruco, you should definitely go and check it out! They said Mesa sent it as a test to make sure everything is working fine, they're trying to break it haha. I think if I don't get my amp within the next week I might go down there and ask if I can record a bit of a demonstration with a pretty good quality video cam my buddy has.. time will tell.

Hey Eric. First of all, nice to meet cha. I,m rather new around here as well, the Mark 5 is drawing in some folks eh? Week or so, man you,ve made my month with that news! I was promised one from the very first shipment as well. But what is this business that I hear about them only shipping combos intially, have you heard anything to that effect? I sure hope that isn,t true, because I ordered the head. What about yourself?
Also, would you say that the 2nd channel is heavy enough for Kings,s X , AIC style of rhythm playing? Thanks alot man.

I certainly hope so, that would mean mine should be in at the same time. It amazes me that three posts in the last 24 hours are all telling a completely different story about shipping.

Guy, I hear ya. I,m to the point now, I don,t even know my own name anymore, or what to think! Why all of this confusion, mis and cross information? Next week, two weeks, late april, mid may, early june, early 4th quarter. What is this, the Kennedy conspiracy? Moon landing faked part 2? First, last year, we had the whole, "is there ever going to be a Mark 5" believe it or not watch. Now this crazy vigil! I,m going to sleep, somebody just wake me up whenever they get theirs!

Aw man I'm there with you guys and nice to meet you too 66! I'm guessing that Mesa Hollywood will be one of the, if not THE, first stores to get the V's in stock.. in the world. So if the one week is actually true then it can't be much longer before the other batches start shipping out. As far as the combos and heads shipping out at different times, at the Hollywood store I believe they're getting 4 heads and 4 combos in the first shipment. (might've been 5 head and 5 combos) but yeah there's an equal amount. I myself ordered a head and I imagine through my recto cab it will sound even better than the combo did in store. Let me tell you this.. playing the V did NOT help make waiting any easier!!

Oh yeah about the Mark V's rhythm 2 like I said I didn't play around with it too much but you can definitely get a big amount of heavy distortion and classic rock tone. 8)

I just read eveyone's comments and didn't realize that my muscles were all tensed up and I just about started to sweat! Can't wait! I'm in Canada, so I can tac on an extra 2 weeks after yous all start gettin yours. Maybe I'll start chewing some glass just to relax a little till it gets here :?

Eric, man, thanks for the answer, and I soooo hope that yours is the righteous info! How great would that be for some of us to start getting our amps by next week! Ya know, I,m sure that I can speak for everyone that, even though we are all seriously jonesing for our amps, we want Mesa to take their time and build these amps right (and I,m confident that they will). Cause ya,ll know their are those out there that see us first run buyers as being too anixous, jumping the gun, and waiting to see if there are going to be any initial problems. If it was just about any other big name amp maker besides Mesa, I probaly would,nt take a 2k leap of faith like this, however, this companies track record thru decades is pretty darn good. Plus, in the event that there were any first run probelms, Randall and his comapny stand behind their stuff, and have quality customer service.
But let me shutup, cause I,m not trying to jinx us!

And ifreedom, save me a piece of that glass man, and I,ll wash it down with some koolaid. I need to relax too!

EricFeliciano, can I assume that since I haven't seen a post from you stating that mark v's are in that they didn't show up this week?
