Hey folks i was just wondering is it normal to experience very little gain coming from a

Mesa Dual Recto 3 channel amp with the gain knob dialed to 12 O'clock on the 3rd channel modern setting?

maybe a bad tube

It also depends on what you're calling very little gain. It's not uncommon for people to try out their new Recto and learn that the sound coming right out of the speakers with no effects isn't exactly like the recordings they hear on the radio. Recorded Rectos almost always have overdrives, boosts, EQ's, and/or compressors applied to them, as well as multiple layers of guitars. There's no way a single guitar through an unaffected amp, even a high-gain one, is going to sound exactly like that.
