Did a little pickup shootout using my trusty 95 Recto.

Good shootout. I liked the EMG's better. They seemed to have a little more clarity and dynamics. I'm curious - Is your 2-channel totally stock or have you done the bias mod to it? Also what pre-amp and power tubes are you using in it? Thanks.

James

P.S. I love all of the videos you do. Very cool. Keep them coming!!!

Thanks man. Yup Recto is bone stock. Mesa 12ax7 in V1, Shuguang 12ax7 in V2-V4 and a Sovtek LPS in V5.

And I really appreciate you checking the vids out! More stuff to come!

I picked up a JH set when they first released and other than the paint issue with EMG's first batch thought they added a nice edge to the 81/60s. Plus EMG was awesome with getting me a set where the paint was solid and not rubbing off.

To me the JH comes out more than the Blackouts where the blackout sounds a little muddy.

What height do you have your pickups set to? just standard or pretty close?

They were normal height. I tried going close but it sounded funny. Super sharp. Backing them off really opens them up.
