I’m new to this forum, happy to be here. Wondering if anyone can give me any tips for doing a cap job on my 1999 rev G dual rec. The 4 30uF 500V filter caps on the main board have drifted significantly, the 2200uF bias cap is bulging slightly and leaking a bit - has drifted to 3x it’s rated value, and the power supply 220uF 300V caps have drifted a bit. So, I’m going to change out all 6 filter caps as well as all caps in the bias circuit. I have all the replacement parts on order, been trying to brainstorm the best way to approach this repair without damaging surrounding components with the iron as it’s extremely cluttered in there.
I’m used to working on old Marshall’s & fenders where the components are easier to access, this is my first time working on a rectifier.
Is it possible to do this job without lifting the boards? Looks like there some plastic arms that come off the chassis through the pcbs to mount it, don’t see any standoff screws. The daughter board that houses the power supply caps - looks like I can swap those caps out pretty easily once I move the power, standby & indicator light out of the way. Any tips/insight/pics from anyone who has done this job before would be greatly appreciated!
