I bought this head in 1996 used. It has been an absolute animal through the years. I just replaced the power tubes and preamp tubes for the first time to freshen it up as it was starting to sound dull. I haven't touched the Silicon Diodes yet. This sound clip was recorded live with a BOSS Micro BR-80. It is raw with no mixdown at all. I am just getting into recording and pretty clueless right now but I think the raw clip sounds decent.
This was recorded using the vacuum tubes on Modern/Bold and a Maxon OD808 in the front. Guitar used was a Gibson Les Paul Studio with stock 498t pup in the bridge:
