I'm having a bear of a time getting the tones I'd like out of this beast. I know it is there, I just need a little help guys.
I'm useing a lp special with burstbuckers and a gretsch 5120 hollowbody
I must say the gretsch does the clean channel justice but on the lead channel it's just blahhh now the lp is just the opposite, lead channel is incredible and easy to dial in the clean is so so... I'm running it through a recto 2x12 cab with vintage 30's ... I have read that the out of phase , I should mention that my cab also has a half back option but I leave it closed...
I'm looking to get a fairly clean tone obviously on the clean channel and a medium drive on the lead channel.. I will try and post a pic

Any help would be greatly appriciated

"... I have read that the out of phase ,..."
Does this mean your speakers are out of phase?

You're going to want to use an open or partially open back cab with this amp to get better cleans.

If one of your speakers is out of phase, that might explain why it doesn't sound good. I would really recommend taking the head and cab to a friend's house and trying out some other cabs with the amp. Also try out other amps with your cab.

I'm confuse what you want out of your Maverick. Do you have the same problem with other amps when you play your LP Studio and Gretsch?

See, my friend likes his Les Paul. Then he plays his Strat and starts to thicken up the preamp and tones controls (puts them up) because he wants his Strat to sound thick like his Les Paul.

They're two different guitars. :?

Are you expecting "I want my cake and eat it too"?

If the speakers were out of phase, you would have a fidelty of small an AM transistor radio. You would know there's something not right no matter what guitar you played.
