I have a Maverick 1X12 and its has an annoying hum that comes and goes. Even with the Master and Volumes down and the reverb right down in fact all controls up or down I get this Hum that comes in cycles for a few seconds then dies away It's not affected by the volumes its just there if anyone has any ideas what might be causing it

Thanks Plucker

Does it do it in Solid State Rectifier mode as well as Vacuum Tube? If not, replace the rectifier (GZ34).

If it does, try replacing the phase inverter tube (V6, furthest from the input jacks of the small tubes). If not that, replace the power tubes - preferably one by one so you can identify the bad one. It's probably more likely to be a power tube, but quicker to test the PI first.

If it's not a tube problem, it's most likely a filter cap on the way out, which is a tech job - but it's much more likely to be a tube, since failed filter caps tend to stay failed.

Thanks 94Tremoverb ill take a look at the things you suggested later on this week and post the results thanks again :D
