How critical is it to have closely matched output tubes in a cathode biased amp such as the LSS?
I have several sets of NOS tubes that I would like to use, but don't know how good they would be matched together. I also have some of the Mesa labelled EL84's, but these are all bought as singles.

It's not a requirement in that amp, only in amps that are class a/b push pull. :D That's why Mesa sells 'em as singles !!

Class A or A/B,push pull still needs to be matched. How close,in either case,is a matter of taste, but too far off and you will still get excess hum and a weaker, unbalanced output.
