I played this amp twice this past week in two different guitar stores with two different guitars and this thing really rips! I need to play a Mark IV for comparison, but right now, I"m seriously considering getting one of these on down the road to run alongside my Triple. The four channels are very usable, and it has gobbs of gain, several modes, Reverb, and the settings can be saved on the footswitch, which is awesome. I played it through a Mode 4 cab and a Peavey Valve King cab. I hooked up a Fender Telecaster to it and was shredding away, playing metal tones with it! I was amazed, and it really changed my mind about the Marshall sound (Don't like the JCM 2000's too much). This thing has it all and sounds AWESOME.

I also played the Roadster and Stilleto Ace this week at yet another store. The Ace is very versatile and had nice tones in it, but the Roadster didn't really impress me that much...at least not enough to get rid of my triple just to have the fourth channel. The Brit and tweed modes were a little disappointing in the gain range, especially the brit. But, this is just my opinion, and i know there are many fans of it out there. My TR does everything I need it to as far as flexibility right now, so, it's no big deal to add a fourth channel.

I played the combo in a store with a tele and an SG?, it didnt have anything special about it to me.

if you think this is good, perhaps put it up against an ENGL Invader 100?

The JVM I tried was great. I'd buy one if the price was right.

Yeah, I'd like to...or one of the SE's....I just don't know where one is around me. I was just really impressed with the JVM's sound (The Vintage Modern was pretty sweet as well), and Guitar Center had some on sale for $1299 in Greensboro, and that was sooooo tempting...if I wasn't saving for a car that thing would be on credit right now.

I picked up a JCM 2000 DSL50 recently on a whim. I knew I wanted a "tight" distortion and a "loose" rectifier distortion. But there's no amp that does that. I also need something that sounds good quiet.

I was considering a Roadster (new), Randall RM100 (new), and JCM 900 and SR/ROV (used). For me and my usage the Marshall/Mesa seemed the best. Using the TR you might be surprised how well they will compliment each other.

The Marshall sounds great through Rectifier cabs. At low volumes the 2x12 and cranked through the 4x12.
