Yup... those plastic channel selecting switches just say

Q U A L I T Y

Who knows though... maybe that JVM sounds good but I have my doubts.

I am pretty sure that Jim Marshall has handed the company over to his daughter at this point. Doesn't look like she's doing such a good job.

It sounds pretty good, I played it a couple of weeks ago. It's not as good as my mesa, but much better then the jcm2000's.
The crunch channel is my least favourite one. The clean was acceptable.
The red mode on the clean channel was pretty cool, real nice dirty sounds. The OD1 and 2 weren't really different, but did really nice on palmmuting.
The construction maybe isn't fantastic, but we are used to mesa and they don't make amps, they rather make tanks.

Well if somebody wants to buy one of those amps and they love how it sounds... more power to them but it doesn't seem very disputable that the quality of the contruction is shoddy.

I thought about one of these, but just by the video on the Marshall site it looks like the modes on channel 1 are cool, the rest pretty much sound the same. Digital reverb too? Naah...

I checked on e of these out the other day and wasnt that impressed. I felt the reverb was very digital sounding and not that good. The clean channel was OK but and the dirty channels needed to be cranked(I mean blasted) to get rid of the fuzz. The Ace kills the JVM in the sound, quality and feel department. In my opinion I would never use all those options it would take away from my focus on my playing. It seemed like alot could go wrong with this amp too. I really wanted to like this amp seeing I was a Marshall die hard for years but the reliability factors outplayed the sound. How many sweet spots can one amp have? I dont mean to offend anyone owning this amp, this is just my experience with it. 1-10? I say 6.9

I'd like to see an independent internal amp construction analysis/comparison b/n the big tube amp makers.

Showdown, Condy Rice style!

OK, here ya go! 8)

I've seen that before I think it's hilarious. Personally I don't see the problem with using a PCB as long as nothing is connected to it that is going to cause physical stress and as long as it doesn't keep the amp from being maintained/fixed/worked on. I still think it's a little weird that Boogie has their tube sockets mounted to the board but I've never heard of anybody breaking their PCB while changing out tubes so I guess it isn't a problem.

I do have to say that I wince every time I push a tube in and I can feel the board flex.
