ok ive just bought a 2nd hand jcm2000 dsl100 for £200 the guy said it was playing up and acting funny, when its on it sounds fine ive tried it against another jcm2000 dls100 and they sound pretty much the same so i play it for about half an hour tops and its MAD hot i mean this things like a radiator i had to let it cool down befor i dared touch it.

does anbody know what would cause it to get so hot?
im no expert on this kind of thing

thanks

You might try going here.

Sounds like a question for swarty or one of the other amp gurus there that know about the JCM2000's like shaggydawg or fireman. Read up on similar posts and then post up your problem there. I wish I could help more but I don't know anything about the internals of a JCM2000.

I would check the bias on the power tubes. If they are biased too hot, they will generate a lot of heat.If you are unable to do it have it done by a tech.Have a look at the power tubes when it gets hot and see if the plates are glowing orange/red.If they are dont use the amp until you have the bias re-set,or find out why the tubes are over heating.

If you have your own multimeter you can bias it yourself. Again, I would look for help over at the marshall forum. Those amps have adjustable bias and often times are not set right. This could be the reason for your hot tubes like stokes said.
