Jesus are these things really worth this much money?

I've got one... think it's a 71 as well in better condition than this thing. Paid 425 for it. Not sure if it has the original speakers though because it is wired for 8 ohms.

Anybody know how I can tell if they are the original speakers?

How do you date a Marshall Cab? IS the date on the inside or what?
I'm thinking of purchasing a 1960a cab from a friend that's in decent condition, but I'd like to know how old it is. Thanks

I'm not sure. I'm just going by what this guy told me when he sold it to me. That was like 14 years ago though. But yeah... I'd like to know how to figure that out as well. I'm not selling it or anything it's just that I'm curious to know when it was made.

Newer cabs date by the SKU and serial.

Older cabs date primarily by the speakers inside then the covering, grille cloth, handles, corners, casters, back panel construction, etc. They kept no records of anything else.

check your speakers and see if they something look like this but 25 watts:

But all the checkerboard grill Model 1960 70ish Marshalls 4x12" I've encountered all had 15 ohms (not 16 ohms) Greenback Celestions.

Is it worth the price he's asking for? Not sure. For "vintage" collecting purpose, maybe.

But looking for Celestion sounding old Greenbacks I'd go with Weber's w/ light doping to get that "broken in feel".

The cab I have sounds great as is.. just curious to find out if the speakers are original I'll have to open it up this weekend and have a look.

Thanks!

I have 8 of these...25W's though. Pre-Rola's too.
