Hey all,
I have been setting up my Mark V in a new studio config and am running into issues that I am unable to resolve.
I have stripped my rig back to the following:
Guitar -> Mark V -> 8 Ohm Speaker Out -> CabClone -> Focusrite 2i2 -> Logic Pro
I have two issues that present themselves:
1 - White Noise humming, but it varies in volume and tone from day to day.
2 - Loud Swells of Noise. This can happen on any channel, and can last for a few seconds and then go away on it's own, or until I turn the Amp into Standby and on again.
The above are both noted in all channels, any volume or gain, any power mode.
What I have done to test this so far:
1 - Different power cables
2 - Different Power Conditioners (Furman Rack, TrippLite UPS, Direct to wall jacks on different circuits).
3 - Different Speaker and Guitar Cables
4 - All the ground lifts in different configs
The part I can't figure out:
I identified this issue, before turning the power on. When I setup the above config, and turn on Input Monitoring in Logic (being able to hear what's coming from the CabClone) I hear the White Noise. If I unplug the power, it goes away. If I unplug the Speaker Cable, it goes away. Guitar removed doesn't make a difference.
To confirm what I just said, I hear white noise from my Amp (via my DAW) when the power to my amp is plugged in, but not turned on. The white noise is as described above, different tones and volumes at different times. If I unplug my amp from the CabClone but leave the CabClone plugged to the Focusrite I hear nothing.
Now, when I do turn on the power, the White Noise does stay the same. It doesn't suddenly change, although it does react to the Gain and Volume of different channels.
The second issue appears to only occur when I am playing guitar with the amp on. It doesn't trigger from where I am standing or facing, and of course different cables and different guitars same results. I have noted that it happens with more frequency when a car passes by outside. Not all cars, so I wonder if it is a radio or other RF issue. I don't know though since my previous experiences usually were resolved by power management (grounded!).
Thanks in advance for any tips on what to look at next!
