A few weeks ago, whenever I was using reverb on channel 3, after about 10 seconds without playing, the amp would start producing feedback. It sounded like a microphonic tube. This would only happen on channel 3. I could stop the high pitched squeal by turning down or turning off the reverb.
I figured a tube was going, so I tried replacing both V4 and V5, which control the reverb.
After that, I have almost no audible reverb. With the reverb cranked, I can just barely hear in on channel 3, and can't hear it at all on channels 1 and 2.
I've tried using more back up tubes. One preamp tube melted partially in V4. Never had that happen before. Luckily it didn't hurt the amp.
I guess I need to call Mesa and get this fixed. I just moved to VA, but fortunately for me, they have a Mesa-affiliated repair shop 17 minutes from my new house.
This will be my fourth repair on this studio-only amp. I am once again considering getting rid of it.
