This amp really never gets boring. I had a perfect Master of puppets tone earlier today on IIC+ with Pentode and 45w and was rockin it. Not only that but I recently got these things on ebay called Fizzy Lifters. Search em! They are little foam domes that you put between your grillcloth and speaker and it is supposed to Disperse the treble beam of death that comes from the center of a cab and I got em for only 20bucks (for 4) so I just had to try em.

Very easy Installation, just took some time, probably an hour to take the back of the cab off and remove each speaker, the screwdriver kept sticking to the speaker! haha. I let the amp sit in standby for 30min then cranked her up to 10:00 on Output and started playing away. I put my head down about 20feet in the middle of the cab, and yes its loud, but the treble beam is gone. Normally if I had it that loud, with no fizzy lifters my ears would be dying, but I could actually withstand it and enjoyed it. I found I can turn it up a little more now without the treble making me want to turn it down. I usually run the presence high on channel 2 and 3, around 1:00-2:00 for some metal or bite and it makes this amp great. I actually cranked it the loudest I have so far and it changes into a whole new beast.

Check out fizzy lifters If you have the same treble beam of death, easy to apply and easy to remove if you don't like them, they are pretty damn cheap for what they do!

I used fizzy lifters in my 2x12 Recto cab, but for whatever reason, my 4x12 Rivera cab doesn't need them. I'm thinking maybe the speakers (V30's in both) are just broken in more. It sounds nothing like the Recto cab did without the fizzy lifters, which was very brittle. The lifters in the Recto did make it sound waaaay better, though. It also allowed me to turn treble and presence up more without the harshness. I was curious to throw some in my Rivera, but don't want to mess with an already good thing. If anything. maybe I can just throw some on two speakers in the X pattern and see how it sounds.

In general, if someone's cab has that harshness problem, they can be a huge lifesaver. But for whatever reason in certain cabs, even using the same speakers, they don't have that problem.

I am glad yours worked out for you. I was ready to sell my V last summer after just 3 days, because I thought the harshness was the amp itself. After throwing in the fizzy lifters, and playing through this Rivera (with no Fizzy Lifters) I don't think the amp is harsh at all. I bet throwing these lifters in a Stiletto Ace combo would sound killer!
