Just wondering something have majority of the issues with the Mark V shown up more in the Head or Combo ?

I have a late 500 serial number Mark V head. I had a microphonic preamp tube at under 2 months old. It affected Channel 3 in the Mark IV mode. From what I'm seeing around here, my own personal opinion is that Mesa's got a bad lot of 12AX7's that have been used in manufacturing these amps. The only think I needed to do was replace preamp tube "V3" and now this Mark V is a tonal champion!!!! Love it!!!! :D

IMHO, the Mark IV mode on Channel 3 is MONSTER WICKED COOL!!!

(Now that I've got it working! )

I tested all the tubes in my mv combo and most of the 12AX7s were on the weaker side. I swapped them out promptly and the sound is much better. Although I am now running EL34's, the factory 6L6's where nicely matched so no complaints on the power tubes.
