I really want to play (and possibly buy) a Mark V, but i cant find one to play near me, and im not gonna order a $2000 amp without playing it first.

I live just outside NYC. Anyone know if theres a place i could play a mark V anywhere near me?

Odibella's in Teanack NJ or Musicians Workshop on Route 9 South in Marlboro. Both had combos last i checked so keep that in mind. Combos sound like crap to me.

thanks, ill have to check those places out. I'd rather try out a head, but i have a feeling thats not going to happen for a while.

And if i like the combo, ill probably like the head even more.

I tried out a combo and liked it, before I ordered my head. When I got the head, I couldn't believe how good it sounded!!!

rudy's music in NYC has a mesa room, with sliding glass doors to block sound. I am guessing they should be getting an amp or two, they did have the poster of the prototype on their wall.... and do have full stacks of most models, in custom leather or woods.

its worth going to just to look at the pretty amps. black flamed maple lonestars, red croco rectifers, white stilettos... i want that room!

i would also guess that if rudys' does get one it might not be there long, as there is a small demand for this amp, believe it or not ;)

unfortuantely Rudy's had a combo, but it sold.

I just find it hard to believe that theres not one amp in the city...

dibella's in bergenfield still has the combo...it's not going anywhere fast.

i too am looking for a boogie in the city and its hard as hell to track one down. you'd think they'd be easy to get here.

Try out the combo with a 4x12 and you'll get the same experience as having the head.

FYI, you can run the combo into any cab you want...so go find a combo and crank it thru a 4x12 if that floats your boat. You will not be disappointed. I suggest you ask for the user manual and go to the section that has presets so that you can dial it in properly. Otherwise, you'll be let down.

im going to o dibella tomorrow after i get off work. Ill run it through a 4x12 and tell you guys what i think.

OK, so i went, and played the combo for a while, and liked it a lot. Then i ran it through a 4x12, and damn.

Turns out they had a few extra heads in stock... So i bought one.

They have more, idk the exact number they had, but the guy said he had ordered a few extras.

Ill post pics or something tomorrow.

This may be a stupid question, but i was looking through the manual and saw this

After unpacking the amplifier, remove the plastic webbing from all the tubes (including the preamp tubes behind the row of big power tubes and the Rectifier tubes.

I only see the 5 tubes in the back... are there more?

And don't worry, i haven't played my amp yet, since I'm waiting for the cabinet to come, which is gonna be another few days...

Nice!

Who helped you out? Lou or Jack?

Jack. Good guy, quite helpful.

Yeah he's real cool. Real Boogie fan too. :)

Edit: pull the front grill off (just velcro'd on) and you will see the other tubes.
Make sure the mesh is off them. Chances are though that Jack already did that for
you before you took it home. :)
