I use the 5-band EQ on my Mark V.

I have never really understood how to use the Preset option for the EQ. I know to engage it you simply set the toggles to the left of the 5-band EQ for each channel from Sliders to Preset. But from there, I don't really know what it is I am supposed to be doing. Am I adjusting the Present knobs (to the right of the EQ for each channel) in conjuction with the shape of the 5-band EQ?

Lastly, I have always assumed that if you set the 5-band EQ to a shape then that shape holds for all three channels. Does this change if you use the Presets option?

Thanks

This is all covered in-depth in your User Manual, which I highly recommend familiarizing yourself with.

The presets are channel specific, and you can dial in any setting from flat to the classic V-shape. They are not influenced by the 5-band graphic eq (which is switched off when you select Preset) I hope this helps. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick feedback. I actually have the manual and needed more clarity.

Based on what you have noted,

If I turn the "EQ On/Eq Footswitch" on any channel to "EQ On" this will disengage the Treble/Mid/Bass knobs on that channel and engage the EQ on the right side of the amp. Choosing Sliders instead of Presents, allows me to create the shape I want with the 5 sliders. This shape applies to each channel assuming all three channels are set to Sliders. Please confirm.

If I switch the toggle from Sliders to to Preset, this disengages the 5-Band EQ for that channel. I understand that this now engages the Preset knobs to the right of the 5-band EQ. When doing this, does this mean that the Preset knobs have various shapes preset in them and rotating this knob now simply changes the underlying shape for each channel (assuming each channel is set to Preset). In this mode, the Treble/Mid/Bass and the 5-Band Sliders are disengaged. Please confirm.

Thanks

The Presets/ Graphic EQ have nothing to do with the tone stack controls (Treble, mid, bass). The switches allow you to choose between using the Graphic EQ -OR- the Presets. Whichever is selected, your tone controls still work normally. Choosing Sliders means the Graphic EQ is active, choosing Preset means the Preset control is active for any channel selected. Rotating the Preset control basically goes from a Flat position on the 5-band Graphic EQ to the classic V-shape position. You can confirm the tone controls are active regardless of the Sliders/Preset choice by simply turning the controls. Thanks!

Ok that is helpful.

"Rotating the Preset control basically goes from a Flat position on the 5-band Graphic EQ to the classic V-shape "

Where does the preset measure a flat position in the 5-band Graphic EQ? Is this at the 12:00 position?

Thanks

The flat position is all the way counterclockwise, and as you turn the control the V-shape begins to dip. Thanks!
