How do you guys feel about the fact that the Mark V doesn't have the same Pull Deep/Shift/Bright options as the original C+'s?

I personally am just curious, I own a Marv V head and love it - no complaints! I do remember when I had a C+, that I could never settle in on a comfortable setting with the pull options, I was always messin around with those, where as the Mark V I am about 90-95% at achieving my ultimate tone, a little parametric eq and maybe some tweaking of the Mark V and I am there.

But anyhow, for those of you have played both or are fortunate to own both, what are your thoughts?

this is a specific aspect that hasn't really been touched on as much as the general metal tone of the C vs. the V-I think the mojo of the C+ is in the interplay of the volume, lead drive , and lead master/ push-pulls...there are some sweet spots below the Metallica gain spots, and I am going to spend next few days comparing the two on lowert gain settings..that is obviously where dynamics really shine-I have been doing the Les Paul/high gain deal lately, but tomorrow a Tom Anderson = low gain setting shootout will occur-what little I have done so far is close, but I havent done enough to give a strong opinion yet..some tele spankin' tomorrow with low gain + high volume should be , as always, a helluva way to spend my day :)

I for one will appreciate your efforts Les, and look forward to your findings. I,ve never played a IIC+, and it,ll be nice to be able to listen to em side by side and compare.

Maybe then we can put to rest some of this stuff of how well does the Mark 5,s mode measure up to the actual amp.

As I,ve said before though, in the long run, it doesnt matter to me. I will be judging the Mark 5,s tone on the Mark 5.

And tomorrow, at long last, I will finally, finally have that opportunity...HALLELUJAH!!!

Guys, according to my finacee, I was about 2 months from this being an early and only Christmas present!

But if I like this amp as much as I anticipate I will, Santa can skip my house, and I won,t care! (of course, I say this now, but by then, I know I,ll want a new delay, wah, etc., HA!)

It would actually be really cool if you ever have the chance to record 2 clips of Mark V and 2 C+ on high gain and then two other on low gain settings and let everyone try to figure out which is the V and which is the C+

The winner (that guesses everything right) will be allowed a 1 hour off of the internet to go practise guitar

sure thing, Shang-my Boogie brothers in North Alabama will all have an equal hand in this ,and I guess I will shut up about it until we pull it off..it will not be a "my amp rules/yours blows" type deal-it might shed a better light on the Boogie marketing team :? , but the V is a versatile amp and I am sure that all of the amps, including the V, will shine-in the end, I will play a early 70's Kay if thats what gets me there!

Ris..we have spent so damn much $$ on these amps, there is none left over for rec. equipment!!I think we could make a better rec. with a portable cassette rec. than some I've heard around here recently  we will take cool pics, and drink some cold beverages in the process, guaranteeed!
