Hi;
Has anyone had a problem with the footswitch cable on their Mark V ?
I've had my amp a little over a year and had been controlling the amp through
a Pod so I barely used the footswitch and cable. Now that I want to get back
to just using the amp, The problem is the EQ light
on the footswitch won't come on unless I lift the cable up over the top of the amp,
on the amp end of course. Geez, I barley used the cable. Seems to me
it shouldn't happen on such an expensive piece of equipment. Is there a history of
quality control issues with Mesa footswitch cables ?

Thanks
Tony

This is a somewhat common problem, usually it's a connection issue and not the cable itself. The DIN plug on the cable is pretty hefty, and can put enough strain on the jack that the connections get flaky. I have the older style head, with the straight bar across the back instead of the tube cage, and I simply wrap the cable around the bar once before plugging it into the head so the bar holds the weight of the cable instead of all of the pressure occurring at the connection itself.

When I bought my Mark V the cable was acting weird in the store. They had to swap it out before I walked out with it.

Yea last year mine messed up too. I tried the pull the metal tab down thing directions but I even messed that up. They sent another and no problems since.

Sorry to hear that man.
I did the tab thing on my old combo and it worked, and the same on my head which has given me no problems at all so far.
So maybe its a case of 'sometimes its the lead, sometimes its the tab'..?
The only glitch Ive ever got is the 'switchers going a bit mental when I first switch the power on' thing, which is remedied immediately by selecting any channel.
