I am just curious about the overall voicing of the Mark V:25. I come from predominately a 6L6 or 6V6 background. I have an Electra-Dyne and Express 5:50 PLUS heads and carry around a Mini Rec as a backup (long story, never leave home without one).

How does the overall clean voicing of the Mark V25 compare to the Mini Rec? I find it mid-heavy for my tastes?

Would appreciate any and all comments.

Thanks!

I also carry a MR as a backup. Great backup amp! Way quicker to switch amps than tubes.

I actually found that I like the MR clean a bit better than the V:25 clean. Not that the V:25 clean isn't good, and fat mode is actually pretty great. I think it's as much about the dynamics, maybe the clarity. V:25 clean is too bright, fat a bit too round, MR just right. I also really like pushed clean on the MR.

Thanks Elvis - sure is.

I sure wish they made a Mini Electra-Dyne style amp - single channel voices, maybe a pair of 6V6's. It would kill !

Me too. I asked for exactly that a couple years ago. But mesa has done the 6V6 thing (Blue Angel) and they're all on EL84.

At this point I am so happy with my RA100 that I'm kind of done looking.
