So I just picked up a Mark IVa of of CL today. Cool deal and I can't wait to crank it up. But some things are not lining with what I think they should do (in relation to my MK IVb)

But fist... the porn

First off, after I got it home I realized that the slave knob had been broken off... don't use it... and I can still turn it. So all is not lost.

One thing that is not sitting well with me is that when I use my FU-3 from my IVb it does not seem to control it correctly.

I cannot select R2 (it just jumps to R1) and LD + Eq does nothing... any ideas?

I also seem to sense that R2 does not have as much gain as the R2 on the IVb. I have read that this is the case. But would like to confirm.

Finally... I don't know what some of the back features are.

-the graphic eq. swich on the back has a little 1/4 inch jack under it that says Remote (followed by an upside down triangle) what is that for?

Also there is LOOP SELECT: Normal and Switchable. with a normal loop (send/return) and Lwitchable Loop (send and return) What is going on here?

If someone has the PDF or something for the IVa I would greatly appreciated it.

What other difference am I in for. I know that the IVa is suposed to be voiced a little closer to the IIc+ that the IVb (more recto like). Any other surprises that will appear?

I liked the cleans and reverb of the a better than the b. Also, harmonics seemed
much easier with the a than the b for whatever reason. It seemed more "organic"
to me as well. Not knockin the b at all. A great amp, I just prefer the a. The a takes a
12AT7 for the reverb slot BTW. The two effects loops are nice on the a. The b does have
more gain in R2. I thought the footswitches were the same. The reverb on the a is not
footswitchable but can be modded very easily to be switchable.
I miss my MKIV's.
Just noticed in your second pic that your two inner tubes may not be matched?
Hard to tell from the pic but be careful and double check them.
Great score

Nice IV man!
I'm also having the same problem with my Mark IV in switching. I tap the R2 and it automatically goes to R1. My EQ and Loop switches work though. R2 works fine, via dial in the back, but I can't switch to it from the footswitch. Thinking it was the footswitch that was my problem, I bought a new one. Same problem. So it's not the footswitch.

Oh.... that sucks. I think something is wrong with my head. My footswitch works with the MKIVb. And the external switchers work on the MKIVa that I got. I can also get all the channels with the dial in the back.

I have no idea what is wrong. But, I use a midi switcher for the external switches. So I'm just going to leave it be.
