Wow, didn't even know that this amp could do this! I always thought that this channel was the worst but with the right set up it's actually the best out of all three! This is played on a basswood body 7-string guitar with old strings!

I like channel 2 on mine. I read a document (don't recall the source right now) quoting Randall as saying channel 2 should be thought of more as an extension of channel 1, rather than as a completely different channel. The quote talked about how the gain structure was more based on channel 1 than on channel 3.

Once I learned that, it more correctly set my expectations as to what channel 2 would do.

I use jazz strings on my SG. It sounds very nice through channel 2.

Thanks for reading.

Hi,

My Rythm2 channel has been moded into a vox overdrive like channel , when i roll back gain pot i got a extended kind of rythm 1 too

nice tone from your amp ..

One of my Charvel 475s has a toasty Duncan PATB Distortion at the bridge, and it absolutely SMOKES on the R2!! It makes me feel more like a Neal Schon type guitarist and I actually play differently (less vulgar than usual...). I think R2 needs the extra kick, and that guitar really brings it...

I love R2 on the Mark IV. I think it gets a bad name from folks expecting it to be something it's not. It could do clean-ish tones, clipping blues, mid gain crunch or soloing, or even metal with a boost.

I've been able to get some very aggressive tones on R2 on my Mark III. I should go back and try this with the eq tweaked to fill the tone out a little more but this one of the first recordings I ever made: https://soundcloud.com/dlpasco/schecter-7-string-and-mark-iii

This was using R2 and an OD808
