Hi guys,

I absolutely love my Mark IV EVM small body combo but the only gripe I have is a slight lack of low end punch. I currently run it in Triode/Class A/ Mid Gain with 6L6 Winged C's.

Settings

Gain 8 pulled
Bass 2-3
Treble 7ish
Drive 8 pushed
Presence 7ish

Played at apartment friendly volume. Just wanted to ask if anyone else finds this with their Mark IV? The answer may simply lie in more volume or quite possibly a 2x12 cabinet or something. I can get a killer distortion out of the amp but it just slightly lacks that ENGL type low end kick.

Maybe I should try a new set of Preamp tubes?

Your problem is

1) small body combo
2) apartment friendly levels

Get a closed back cabinet if you want a tight punchy low end and you need some volume as well :)

Thought that might be the problem.

Just been fiddling with it and dropped the bass on the EQ and seems to sound a bit better. I had it sounding too muddy. Touch less bass and tad more treble on the EQ and sounds great. Crunchy crunchy.

I am still amazed how delicate the EQ is. Such small tweaks make HUGE differences!

I wish I could crank this thing. Need to move first though. :(
