Any one retube their Mark IV with a kit from Eurotubes?
Is there much difference from the high-gain to the normal frontend selection?

Also the 6L6 and KT77 combination sounds very interesting.
I tried my Mark IV with 2 EL34's but it sounded too thin for me with this combination.

Any how just want to try some new tube combinations with my amp to get a better/different sound.
Any input on what you have tried in the past would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I was also thinking of trying a tungsol in V1.

Thanks, Jeff

If you haven't experimented with preamp tubes, you'll be amazed at the difference one tube can make. I just installed a vintage Amperex ECC83 in my Mark IV. All I can say is "Wow"! Improved the feel immensely over the Mesa 12AX7. I then installed a vintage Raytheon long plate in V4....wow again! It's now the amp I always wanted it to be, and I still have three slots to go!

I've got a Tung Sol in V1, I do like this tube in quite a few amps. But I'm thinking of going to higher end preamp tubes since I do believe I am keeping this Mark III for a long time. I've never tried anything expensive but I'm about to although I know little about the really good stuff.
