Hmm I ve already scooped them a lot but I know for sure that the mark series got lots of mids..!

I'm pretty sure James used a Anderson H3 pick-up on that song, plus the parametric EQ had a lot to do with that sound, but it is an achievable tone. Take all the mids out and raise the 2 higher sliders.

Thx a lot man! Ill try that!

I know that everyone keeps telling me to ultra-scoop the mids, but this time I'm trying to get close to this tone...
This is the demo of Master of Puppets and I kinda like this raw sound...

I don't believe that's actually Metallica. The drumming is so awful, it can't be Metallica. Why would Metallica ever record something on a POS recorder in the first place? MOP production was over the top, "it took us a week to just bring the equipment into the studio for Master of Puppets" was a quote from the Garage Days interview. That is not Metallica IMO. Unless that is a ton of "wow and flutter" stuff that happens to audio tape, who ever is drumming can't keep a beat. Coming off the 4 going into the 1 after a roll is way bad news for this drummer, even Lars could never have been that bad, listen to it. I just listened again, there's no way that's Metallica, no way, not close, I'll bet you a Les Paul that isn't Metallica.

Haha... Well I acceptthe bet and I have to say u owe me a les paul lol ! Listen to the whole demo here and Jame's voice... Im quite surprised you can't believe it's them. I mean there are demos from almost all their records. Also, its not like a rare recording.. It has been on the net for years. "The Master of Puppets demos were recorded on July 14, 1985 and was essentially a rehearsal more than it was a demo. The demo included five songs that were included on its third studio album, Master of Puppets (1986)."

On the first demo that you mentioned here, sounds not so scooped at all to my ears. IMO, with a more normal and balanced eq you could get something similar :)

I was thinking the same thing man..!

Try some settings from these links. Notice that most of them are planned for a real IIc+, so you have to adjust the Quad accordingly (for example, some pull push controls are in different places)
