mark III green stripe plate voltage question

is the plate voltage in the outter two tubes on a mark III over 450 volts?
i want to get some simens el34's, but they aren't recommended for plate voltages over 450.

Hey Jimbo,

They can go as high as 490V. It's something that needs to be measured on an individual basis. Some are as high, or lower.

is there such thing as an "average" plate voltage for the outer pair, or at least the average (or voltage range) that you have noticed on MKIIIs ...mine is a greenie if that makes a difference. Thanks!

Jim. I use Siemens EL-34 for the outside power tubes. They sound good and make the amp VERY tight. I have not had a problem with them. I tend to like all 6L6's though.
