Been playing a lot o' blues jams lately, here's an idea or three from woodshedding in the garage. Using a Strat with Noiseless pickups from a Jeff Beck model, got a decent Robert Cray sound (position 2, natch) on R1, a good Clapton/Mayall Bluesbreakers tone with R2, and All-Hell-Breaking-Loose on Lead. Bass shift pulled, Deep pulled, that's all. EQ in, Presence on 3, Reverb to taste. Simul-Class with STR-442s (EL-34s) and STR-454s (6L6s). Various old Mullards in the pre-amp. Celestion G12T-100. Sometimes a EVM 12L loaded Thiele added for girth.
I'm using a Morely L'il Alligator volume pedal in the loop as a foot-controllable Master Volume. (Not all volume pedals can do this). In any mode, I can back off the guitar's volume to clean up the sound and bring the total level up or down as needed without reaching for the amp controls.
Beetchen'!
(Of course, this will all totally change tomorrow.)
