I,ve had my mark 2b super sixty for almost ten years now.It was originally a 1x12 combo but i,ve converted it to a short head at the mo.It came fully loaded with all the options that a sixty watt model could come with...graphic eq,reverb, export transformer etc but with it being a short head i,ve removed the reverb tank so it can sit on cabs better!I.ve always loved the 2b clean sound in fact of all the boogies i,ve played it,s got the best clean imo...very round, warm and punchy, sits well in the mix either live or for recording and also loves any pedals you throw at it.To me it sounds like a darker more mid rangey fender when eq,d right! So here,s the rub for years i could never get a cool high gain lead sound from this amp...UNTIL NOW!!!The secret of course is that the lead channel needs to be totally eq,d differently from the clean channel and also and this is the main thing boost the treble,s and cut the bass with a modified v shape on the graphic eq!and lastly max out that volume control...now i,m in high gain lead geetar heaven ...AND I PLAY FENDERS!

i've actually been using the clean channel as my rock rhythm tone for a while, using a boost to push it even harder....
and then using a drive pedal to boost for solo tone....
the clarity and full bandwidth is what i like...

with the lead channel, you get that 'choke' effect....
with more drive in front of the amp, it just reacts with more compression and distortion...

but with the clean channel, there's more headroom...
and it gives my pedals way more clarity, and i still get the drive and sustain i like...

but this is a recording setup only, i can't use it that way live, i have to have a clean tone....

so i run the lead channel with just a bit of crunch, and this is my 'rhythm' tone, and push with boost and drive pedals to get solo tone, and still i'm able to switch to a really nice clean tone, albeit it's a compromise between what i eq to get the rhythm/solo tone, and the clean tone.

there's less 'hair' on my tone, when i dime the clean channel, and use that as the basis for building my sounds for rock rhythms and solo tones.

all of my pedals sound incredible in front of the clean channel, so i just dial the knobs wherever i want to, while recording, to get the tone i'm hunting.

this is quite the departure for me, from using the lead channel for 'lead' for so long.

--my current favorite way of using the lead channel now, in conjunction with my weber attenutator....
is to run on the lead channel, with the edge boosted, no pull fat, and dime EVERYTHING (bass on zero), and bring the VOL1 way down, to about 4, going for mostly pure transformer saturation....
everything is hitting hard, EXCEPT the very first gain stage.
yes, it's noisy...
but it FEELS really cool.

good luck with your boogie....i've had mine since '81.
