Hi gang. Today my mk2b power switch started smoking.
I've pulled the chassis and powered it up. Shined a flashlight over the open top of the chassis and isolated the smoke to the power switch.
Has anyone encountered this issue? The fuse is properly sized and intact so I would believe that the contacts in the power switch have diminished to the point that a high resistance fault is occurring causing heat and thus smoke and thus an unhappy me.
Any input is greatly appreciated.

Since the amp is getting "old" these things can happen. I would get a replacement right away since you've already located the fault.

Agree with Tony - change it ASAP.
The smoke signifies either contact chatter with the rocker or maybe ingress of "crud" which is heating and now smoking.

Either way, it's academic - change it. Original is a Carling SPST - from memory part no 110-73.

Unsolder leads as Boogie often have little or nil extra lead length.

Would be prudent to check filter caps and change as needed. Def change if they're the white fibre-board ended caps.

Usual disclaimer: high voltage, mains, big bities potential, self preservation......... Dave

Yeah, my Mark IIB, the off / on switch broke, it stayed on.

Then I was going to purchase a Carling toggle switch but locally they only carried the "long bat" type, not the old Fender short type. ... but my Musicman amp had the old small bat Carling switch which I replaced with the "long bat" Carling switch and replace the Mark IIB's broken switch with the Musicman's switch.
