I heard some of Yngwies latest stuff ( I havent heard a note from YJM for at least 5 years and it was a friend who brought the CD round for a listen to cause I would have spent another 5 years without hearing him).
Holy Heavens above that mans lead tone really is the Feckin Fury Unleashed.
I know he is a very very controversial man indeed and to say he is not everyones cup of tea is an understatement in the extreme but feck me he has an unbelievable tone and (one no matter what you think of the man) is totally his own.
I can get a very close approximation of that tone thru my DC-5 so thats the Mesa connection here.
Anybody gotten real close to his tone thru their Mesa? For what its worth my favourite YJM lead tone is the one he had on Marching Out,I own a late 60's Marshall 50w but I would like that tone out of my Mesa.
I realise that its probably difficult because so much of his tone is in his hands because no matter what he has basically a perfect technique and his tone isnt for beginners because it shows up any sloppiness but my chops are in good shape so Im all for it..
Axe wise I have the perfect instrument to Unleash the Fury-a late 70s Strat with HS3's in it so im getting close.
Any tips would be appreciated.
PS NO MALMSTEEN HATERS WELCOME ON THIS THREAD.This is just something I would like some tips on.I know he doesnt play Mesa but I like to think my amp can handle anything and I am very very close to his tone so dont start any slagging here, start your own thread.
