I've been trying to solve tube issues with my Mesa this morning, and what started as a routine preamp tube change may have turned into something much worse. I'm getting very low volume, especially on the 5 watt setting, along with distorted flat tone. Something happened when I was fiddling around trying to locate which tube needed changing. After the volume problem started, I even switched out the power tubes, but it seems like the amp might need to be taken in.

Suggestions? Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm new to this site, but not new to messing with tubes.

Unless you did something really wrong, like jamming the wrong tube in the socket, despite the tube and socket's protests, and then somehow shorted out across the connection, then you should be fine.

Same number of wires to plug in to the socket, then no problem.

Try cleaning the socket. sounds like a bad connection to me.

Hi I have the same problem with my Express 5:25 1X10.

Just retubed the amp and it still does the same. Comes on sound starts breaking up then no sound. If I'm lucky it may come on again in half an hour or so then works for 2 minutes then sound just cuts off.

All the lights remain on and channels still switch.

Is this a standard fault that can be easily fixed?

Any advice most appreciated. Thanks
