hey everyone. i'm looking for a 1x12 to run my dual rectifier through in my apartment or other small places where my 4x12's are just way too much. i was thinking an Avatar would be a great cab, as i've heard really good things about them. if i go with an avatar, what speaker should i get in it to safely run my dual rec?

any other cab suggestions? thanks all.

remember...i dont' want to spend a ridiculous amount of money, as it is just for bedroom/basement use.

how much does one of those go for? i've thought about that cab, but i figured it was too expensive for what i need it for.

yeah. see, that's pretty much more than i want to spend. i realize i'll be getting great tone out of it, but i'm a broke college student who doesn't have a real job yet. lol. anyway, thanks for the info. any other suggestions?

accord. to someone on vitage page, they saw one go for 186 plus 25 shipping...the ones I have seen/bought usually went for around three, with many hitting 3 plus when ev loaded, but I have not been keeping up much lately-doubt you see mnay go for 200-there are non thiele 1x12,so that is option,too..but the thiele is worth it-sell other equipment to fund-you will be :D

if you don't mind me asking, what makes the theile so great...or at least superior to other 1x12's? i need to know before i drop $300+ on a 1x12

You should take the time to go play a ported cab. Any ported cab. Then compare it side by side with a similar equipped sealed cab. You'll get the idea realy quick. My KK Audio Thiele cab is convertible back and convertible port. I really love it in Thiele mode so much I rarely change the configuration. The back stays sealed and the port stays open. Thiele cabs get you more bottom and the feel of a cab that is much bigger than it is. By that I mean it sounds much like a 2x12 but still slightly deeper. Loaded with an EVM-12L you have a really nice cabinet that is honest and doesn't color your sound and really gives you everything you put into it. The 200 watt rating of the speaker and great efficency make it a hard speaker to beat. Depending upon who is selling it you might find a Thiele locally for under $200. I got my KK Audio convertible Thiele cabinet for just over $100. I was originally going to buy it for just the EVM but the cabinet it is in actually sounds better than the Mesa Thieles I have played. I would buy a Mesa Thiele but for me there isn't really a point in it. I almost got two of these but the other one for some reason sold for way more. I think the other people thought it was a double listing.

I like the Basson 112 cab. Nice n' punchy!

Basson is in my backyard. Carslbad is about 15 minuted from here. Those cabinets are nice. They keep sending me literature to buy there stuff. So does Carvin. Carvin is near my dad's about 1/2 an hour away. I'd buy Basson before Carvin though.

Oh yeah, and I ran my 2 ch Dual Rec with my Thiele and I can say it sounded great. I must say that I much prefer it through the Traditional cab, but hey, for a 1x12, a Thiele sounds pretty **** good. I normally run it with my Mark IV.

any suggestions where to find a good theile? i live pretty much in the middle of nowhere. closest guitar center is over 3 hours away.
