I see the lonestar doesn't have a contour like the express, I think turning the contour up gives you a v eq, so with the lonestar does the presence control act as the top end of the V, higher frequencies? I find the Express a very bright amp, it doesn't need a pull bright presence like the bassy F50 did. So if the lonestar has got a presence does that mean its not as bright as the Express (already very bright and no need for a presence)?
 
Presence controls the highs above Treble; high-end bite and sparkle.

The contour control does introduce a mid-range scoop or "V. Being that Lonestars are voiced more low and mid-rangey, contour sort of defeats the purpose of the amp. If a V scoop is desired, you could always run a graphic Eq pedal.
