Will running a line level boost like an mxr microamp in the loop give you a good volume boost for leads? Is there another way to achieve this?

you have 3 separate channels...foot switchable graphic eq...you don't need a mxr micro amp

sure it will work, although I'd run something like that in front of the amp, not in the loop.

Imo, the Micro amp will change your tone, the more you turn the knob, the more it will afect your tone when you stomp on it. I recommend you use an EQ pedal that has a level control. Or, you could use a volume pedal that you can set a minimum volume level on and then stomp on it for your lead volume, or use one half pressed down for rhythm and fully pressed for the lead. Some use a clean boost pedal to get the lead boost. If you are running a lot of gain on the lead channel the effect will be minimal if the pedal is in front of your amp, so you will have to experiment running the boost in the loop and in front and see what works for you. The lead boost increase available will vary depending how much gain and lead drive you have dialed up.

try my way and you only need the mark 4 pedal out front onstage, one button, i set it like this, i av got delay and chorus and a mxr clean boost set allways on the clean channel, off on the lead channel for my rythum dry and then when i solo, on the mark pedal just press the fx button there u go, u do need to set the volume on the clean and boost, works great for me.
