Hi Guys , it's me again !!!
My 82' IIB came with tubes with no rating whatsoever on it . Some say that any medium rating tubes will do. How does this refer to Mesa B. color code ? Is there some absolut NO for some tubes ? Crazy as I am , the KT66 tubes look so gorgeous that I do fancy getting some (& SRV was known for using those!), is it a mistake ? ( just like damaging the amp ), should I go for TAD 6L6 WGC-STR instead ? Thankx for the helpl

I ran KT66 in my IV for most of a year. The lead and clean sounds were much better (huge). The heavy chunk sound I did not feel was as tight as winged C. That is what I use in there now.

It was a much bigger sound. I just felt it was not tight as what I wanted from that amp. I think it still was tighter than a DR.

Thanks for the info , that a useful clue ,I think it's woth givin' it a try
I also plan a Peerles New York with a Charlie Christian P.U. (courtesy of Seymour Duncan :it's been in my closet for almost 2 years , the pick up , not Seymour !!!)
