i got no answear...
I have a 112 and want the head version...

that being said.
1.can the mark V be rack mounted using the rack kits sold by mesa and if so which one????

2.what would a head cabinet run me direct from mesa???

I don't believe you can do a rackmount thing. You could get a headshell. Don't do it from Mesa though. They're over-priced big time. I don't know from whom other people on here get their headshells, but a couple people got some for their Mark IV's and stuff from some guy. Not a whole ton of help I'm afraid. But you could google it. Also, you should save some cash and get one without the reverb tank installed and just take the one from your combo.

yeah i am really lookin gto rack it.i have a 4 space just hangin around doing nothing

I ordered a headshell from Mesa about 6 months ago for my Mark IV. The shell is $250. If you want a reverb and a fan installed that was about another $50. Shipping was around $25

I suspect a Mark V shell is the same ballpark.

You can recover most of the the cost by selling your combo speaker and cab. I got about $150 for my combo cab and $75 for the C-90. The whole thing cost me about $100 and now my old amp looks like new. I'd do it again in a minute. Just be ready to wait. Mesa takes FOREVER to build a custom shell. I waited about 8 weeks for mine.

Hmmm. Yeah I might have said Mesa was over priced because I wanted a bit too much come to think of it. I wanted a combo shell and for it to be Wine Taurus with a Wicker Grill, have the speaker in it, and reverb tank. If you keep the options small you should be alright.

im trying to get a headshell built by another builder other than boogie.if i do go boogie no reverb tank i'll pull it out of the combo.then again it's not like i ever use verb anyway...

Send GTS a PM on the board. He builds headshells for the Mark amps. I have one of his shells, and its as good as Mesa's, if not better. His prices are very reasonable as well. I'm sure he'd be able to tell you if he could build you a headshell for your Mark V or not.

Assuming the V is like the other Mark amps, you can reuse the combo's reverb. You just need to order the mounting hardware for it. All you need is a flat metal cover, a few screws and 8 rubber grommets.

If you have someone build a custom headshell be sure to have them add a cutout in the bottom for the reverb. Otherwise there will not be room.
