Hey just wanted to drop a note letting everyone know I finally got my V2 non phat TA to go with my 20/20 deep modded poweramp. I haven't integrated my other preamp/effects processor because I have been having so much fun with the TA, I love those Boogie mids. I took the whole thing apart and went over some solder joints and it's running pretty smoothe. The 20/20 and TA both got a full set of JJ's with a 12AT7 in V3+V5 in the TA. My rack case and behringer FCB controller should be here next week.

I modded to TA to send 12VAC to pins 1+5 on the 'midi in' jack to phantom power my Art X-15(soon to be put up on Ebay) and Behringer FCB when it arrives. I took the power tap right from the tranny going to the digital board and it works like a charm. This is definitely more attractive and convenient than using an adapter through the phantom power input. I am surprised more people haven't attempted this.

Now I have to get back to tweaking!!! I have a lot to learn.

Sounds good, but I would not recommend using a 12AT7 in V5 of the Triaxis, unless you're preventing clipping in your effects loop or recording outs. I found that the noise floor rose audibly when using a lower-mu V5, which is why I went first to a 12AX7, then to 12BZ7.

12AT7 in V3 sounds okay. I tried several 12AT7 there, and ended up with a 5751 instead. Its a tradeoff between clarity (lower-mu) and dynamics (higher-mu), and its up to you to find the balance.

Use your ears, though, and go with what is best for you.

Yeah, I will definitely experiment. I really don't have a big variety of tubes so I need to invest in some different stuff (including NOS). Currently my tube collection is either chinese(mid 90's make), JJ, Sovtek LPS + WA, or EH 12AX7's. I have a bunch of tubes but not many quality tubes (I find the JJ's are the best of the bunch) but I am going to start investing in some different tubes to see what tones I can come up with.

As far as the V3 and V5 are concerned, I just had some 12AT7's lying around and figure I would try them as most people complained about clipping the Opamps. We are still just getting acquainted maybe after the honeymoon I will start getting serious about what I feel the pre is lacking.

Thanks for the response. I will definitely checking your past threads as a rough guide.
