i was a bit wary about buying a set of celestion V30s due to the reputed "icepick highs" and some harshness, especially when new. so the hellatones were recommended to me for that reason.
its true what they say. its warm and smooth and sweet sounding even during the first trial. im very pleased with them. i have 2 of them in a 2X12 cab and i have 2 old celestion G12M70s in another 2X12. when the 2 cabs are used together its pretty well balanced and tight sounding. i guess the celestions give me lows and highs while the hellatones give a beautiful, rich middle.
ill be replacing the celestion g12m70s in time. im considering the black shadow C90s or maybe a set of hellatone 60Ls (hellatone 60s with extra low end)...or maybe a C90 and a hellatone 60L paied together. ive read about the C90s being tight in the lows. gotta keep the lows tight for that heavy metal-ish thump we all know and love.
any advice here on the other set of speakers?
but yeah, hellatone 60s are warm as hell and smoothly balanced. im very pleased with them. you probably would be too.
