just caught Return to Forever

saw them last weekend.

Original lineup: Al Dimeola, Stanley Clark, Chick Corea, and Lenny White.

First time touring in 20 years.

Not to be missed. Ridulously good. Seriously. Doesn't even matter what kind of music you are "into".

from paradigm shifting (as in life changing) solos, to break neck speed mind bogglingly intricate unison lines, from the deepest funk grooves laden with jaw dropping synth and guitar explorations, to Al's ultra extravagant acoustic fantasy, its all there.

and when I say life changing, I am not kidding. Stanleys acoustic bass solo (he plays electric as well in the show) in the moment, eclipsed anything I have ever witnessed :shock: !!!

....and their chemisty is solid, they obviously are very happy to be playing together again.

Don't miss it. You will not be disappointed.

Man I didn't know they had a reunion tour. I won't be able to see either of their shows in SF :x Of all the music I listen to, RTF is that one that I always wanted/needed to see... Oh well, I hope they make a DVD of some sort. It's good to hear that they still have the magic.

Their closest show to me will be Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Theater August 2nd. I've been salivating since last fall when the tour was announced on www.chickcorea.com. I've canceled a booking for my own band and have said before I'd drive to California if necessary. I'm a guitar player but have probably listened to Chick Corea more than I have many of my fav guitarists. This is definatly a show to NOT miss. I'll be there.
